People talk about the bond between siblings….well these two are gonna be the best of friends!  It’s funny how they are already bonded.  I mean, if anyone can make Sawyer laugh (and I mean, full out hysterical deep belly laughing) it’s Jackson.  And Jackson knows this.  Actually, Jackson’s new favorite thing is to make Sawyer laugh.  He runs around in circles making goofy sounds and then we all wait for Sawyer to giggle.  Pretty funny stuff.

People often ask how Jackson is doing with another one in the house.  Sometimes they are surprised when I tell them the two are great together.  Well, they are!  And I think we have many years of ahead of us with these two as the greatest buddies.  Jackson is already eager to play with Sawyer…and by the rate of things, it won’t be long.

Look out world…here they come!

I quit!! May 29, 2007

This past weekend was my final hurrah at the emergency clinic where I have been working in Carmel.  While I have mixed emotions about not practicing, I am happy to be done.  (I’m sure I will look again for a job in the fall.)  Without saying too much, I will just say the practice was not a good fit for me.

I will spill the beans that one of the reasons I left was because when I started, the vets did not have to see “exotic” animals.  (Exotics being ferrets, birds, rats, turtles, snakes, etc)  Well, during my maternity leave, they decided to be the only clinic in Indy that DOES see exotics!  Ha!  Can you picture me treating a snake??  Um, no.  So anyway,  when I showed up for my shift on Sunday can you guess what was hospitalized??  Anyone, anyone?  Buhler?  Ok….I’ll tell you….. a POT-BELLIED PIG!!  Uh-huh.  I said PIG!  Her name was “Pearl,” and I must say I did grow quite fond of the little 85 pound-er.  It sure made for an interesting weekend!  And it also helped me realize that yes, quitting was appropriate.  (No blame to little “Pearl.”  The decision was made last month.  I was just finishing my final shifts.)

So now I have time to play with the family on the weekends.  “Ya-hoo!!  Ya-hoo!!” as Jackson would say.  I’m also going to focus more on my baby biz.    If anyone is in the market for a baby gift, check out my site.    Buy a blanket and help feed my children!  Hehe!

I’m including a video of a TRUE STORY.  Please watch.  This also helps to explain why I do NOT see exotics.  And also reminds me of the last ferret I attempted treating while still in Chicago……

“I want french toast and pancakes!” May 25, 2007

So lately, the first thing Jackson says to me in the morning when I get him out of bed is, “I want french toast and pancakes!”  No, not one or the other….it’s always both.   (Although I also get the occasional, “I want Cheerios and Rice Krispies!”)

I just wanted to give a shot out to the Eggo company…you have saved my life!  Yes, during the week even Bisquick is out of the question.  Nothing like taking something out of the freezer, popping it in the toaster or microwave, adding a few strawberries freshly picked from our garden (hehe) and voila!!  A beautifully warm and hearty breakfast for my boy!  And all this time I thought coffee was what people meant when the said they had a “hot breakfast.”

He Looks Innocent… May 23, 2007

Ahhh….my little Jackson Henry.  Yes, he looks innocent and sweet — and for the most part he usually is.  But recently, behind closed doors (and sometimes in public) he is TWO!   Yes, welcome we must,  the “terrible two’s.”  It’s amazing how simple little things (such as changing the tv channel, running out of juice, or going upstairs for a nap) can instantly change a sweet and loving little boy into a MONSTER!!  Yes, this sweet little thing has begun the full out tantrum stage.  I’m talking — on the ground, kicking, screaming, crying, FRIGHTENING events!  Usually these events only occur if he’s hungry or tired….but lately it’s been naptime that is the real kicker.

Example — yesterday at naptime, he refused to sleep with his bedtime pals, “froggy” and “monkey.”  The kid has been sleeping with this stuffed animal gang since he was about 9 months old, but for some reason they were not welcome in the bed yesterday!  Wow.  After allowing him to “yell it out” for a while, I went back into his room to see what the heck was going on.  Well, the little prince had taken off his shorts and was screaming, “No shorts!!  No shorts on!!!”  Oh dear.  I knew it would be the diaper next…and sure enough…..I’ll spare you the details.

Usually when these things happen, I try to tell myself, “He’s two.”  Well, to quote a great chick flick (Sleepless in Seattle)….I have to also add, “He’s good at it!!”

American Idol ‘07 May 23, 2007

Ok, yes.  I said this would be a blog about the family, the kids, the funny mishaps.  BUT…I have become an American Idol junkie this season.  Yes, sadly enough, next to Dora the Explorer, Blue’s Clues, and The Young & The Restless, this is the only show that I have watched religiously.  (Ok,  I have the last 3 episodes of Gray’s Anatomy still recorded on my DVR and can’t wait to watch them…)

I just can’t believe the show tonight!  I mean, I think if we go with the whole theory that this is a “singing competion,” then Melinda Doolittle should be the winner.  Well, she’s out.  And thank goodness, so is Sanjaya.  But what was up with the show tonight?  If it’s a true singing competition, then our dear Jordan has won.   jordin_sparks.jpg

If it is seriously “American Idol,” then I think our dear man Blake Lewis should be the winner.  I mean, seriously, he is quite the entertainer!blake_lewis.jpg

But what upsets me so much is the final song they picked.  Not that it was a bad song….but it was not something that Blake would ever sing!  So were they trying to sway our votes???  I think they were!

Ok, so let’s tell all….who did YOU vote for??  And if you’re too embarrassed to say you actually voted…what type are you….

       a.    I want to be entertained by cute blond-ish boys

                                        or

       b.    I actually want and need a new album with a new, good singer…because there   just aren’t enough singers to choose  from already….

And if you lost the numbers….it’s 1-800-IDOLS- 01, 1-800-IDOLS-03, and 1-800-IDOLS-05.

By the way…anyone up for Idols on tour this summer????  Hahahaha!  (ok, really, if someone will babysit….I’m THERE!)

What am I thinking? May 22, 2007

Welcome to my new blog!  Just wanted to give everyone a little place to keep up on our life.  It may not be exciting OR adventurous…but the little ones keep it anything but boring!  When you visit, you can probably guarantee that you will know the latest thing that Jackson has said….or the newest thing that Sawyer has done.  You will probably have to deal with typo’s as I often type while holding a baby…or while trying to keep a toddler out of trouble.  But such is life….well, such is my life!  And you will also have to deal with improper grammer because I type as I think!

The inspiration for the title comes from a doctor who has had great impact on us lately…No, no….not the doctor that delivered Sawyer…not James Harriet…not my dear ol’ dad….and not even Dr. Phil!  It’s actually a quote from Dr. Seuss.  I found it to be quite truthful at this point in our life.  (thanks mostly to Jackson)

I  hope that you will all share your insight and be able to laugh at someone else’s daily dilemmas!  So, sit back and enjoy with your morning cup of coffee…or your evening cocktail….or vice versa depending on how your day is going!

 Thanks for visiting!
