Fourth of July Pics

I updated!  But they’re on my baby blanket blog.  I don’t have time for both today…so go check them out!

I’m going home this week to help mom recover from her surgery…but when I get back, I’ll post some death-defying tricks performed by the one and only Chopper!!!!!  He graduates from puppy school tomorrow!  Yahooey!!  The class has been lots of fun for both of us.  His real, big boy obedience class starts in 3 weeks!  Which reminds me….I better go register him for that!

I thought I could get away with it.

When our AC was out, Jackson had some “accidents” — if you know what I mean.  He’s been doing great with his potty training and hasn’t had any problems for months.  We all drank tons that week in order to stay hydrated…so that’s the excuse I’m using for him.  Anyway, I quickly learned that week that once he starts going he has to get to the potty immediately  or we’ll have a bigger problem.

So, two nights ago we went on a walk after dinner.  We came home and played outside for a little bit.  Then I asked Brad to chop down a tree/plant because I was tired of it growing insanely out of control.  I’m trying to tell Brad which plant to remove (and which plants NOT to remove) while keeping my eye on Sawyer and Jackson.  Well, Jackson came right up to me yelling that he had to go potty.  And I could tell he HAD to go.  I quickly surveyed the scene…Brad was cutting down the correct plant and Sawyer was watching him.  I couldn’t leave Sawyer with Brad and the saw.  I couldn’t pick up both boys and run in the house.  Jackson was never going to make it inside.  So….after making sure no one was looking, I took Jackson over behind a tree in our yard, pulled his shorts down, leaned him forward, and said, “GO!”  He looked at me like, “what????”  “Yes, go!  It’s ok.”  I figured he IS a boy, right?  Isn’t this what guys do?

So, he went.  I quickly pulled his britches back up and wiped a bit of sweat from my forehead.  I was a little stressed out by what I had just done…but I thought maybe he wouldn’t really “get it.”

Ha!  Jackson immediately ran over to Brad and was so excited!  He said, “Daddy!  Did you know there was a potty outside!?!”

Of course Brad looks at me and says, “No…I didn’t know there was a potty outside.”  Now I was getting that look again of “what do you do with my kids when I’m not around?”

“Well there is, Daddy!”  Jackson said proudly.  “It’s right over there!” he said as he pointed to the tree.

Sheesh.  So, later Jackson and I had a long conversation about why he went potty outside that one time…and why we won’t do it again.

It’s hot, it’s hot, it’s hot in here….

…there must be an owl in the atmosphere!!

Wow…that’s a flashback from my cheerleading days.  Good grief.

Just a quick post to vent bc our AC is outta commission.  It actually stopped working last Friday and it wasn’t a big deal until today.  It’s now officially 82 degrees outside and 85 degrees inside.  We feel like we live in the bayou!  (I actually made the mistake of making jambalaya yesterday…trying not to use the oven and we ran out of stuff to grill.  I don’t know how southern people have hot, hot weather and eat hot, hot food.  Doesn’t make sense to me.  Rachel??)

Anyway!  If things go according to plan, the AC will be fixed tomorrow.  So…on that note….off to rearrange the fans!

ps-my thought of the day is….let’s drill for oil in Alaska.  (ok, seems random…but seriously.)

Jackson Quotes

Just thought I’d post a few funny things that Jackson has said lately.  I don’t know where he comes up with this stuff.

The other morning, the boys and I were heading to the grocery.  Of course, it takes over an hour to get everyone dressed, shoes on, diaper changed, go potty, dogs out, dogs in…etc.  When we were almost ready to leave Jackson came up to me and said, “Mommy, are you ready to roll?”

“Yes,” I said.

“Mommy,” he continued.  “Are you ready to rock and roll!?!?!”

Seriously.

Then the other night, after we had been working in the yard, Brad went to clean up.  The boys and I were at the kitchen table having a snack.  Jackson said, “Where’d Brad go?”

“Who?” I asked.

“Brad!” he exclaimed.

“Umm….that’s Daddy to you,” I told him.

He said, “Well, you call him Brad!”  So I began explaining that I call Poppy “Dad.”  Daddy calls Grandpa “Dad.”  “And you call Daddy ‘Dad’,” I said to Jackson.

“Nope,” Jackson said.  “I call Daddio ‘Dad.’”

What can I say…the kid is on a roll.  Or should I say rock and roll!?!

People think I’m stupid…

because we just got a new puppy!  It’s not like we needed another dog…but I’ve always wanted 2 dogs…and now we have them!  Maybe it’s also going to help convince me that we don’t need anymore  children.  :)

So, let me introduce our newest arrival — Chopper!!  He’s an 11 week old black poodle/lab mix.  (Dare I say “Labradoodle.”  I hate that term because it’s not a breed…but a wonderful mutt!)  He’s a hu-mongo sized puppy and is almost as big as Albert.  (Yes, at 11 weeks old.)  Speaking of Albert, he is doing amazingly well with the new one.  I was worried Albert would eat Chopper seeing as he doesn’t always play well with others…but so far so good.  Grizsy is not thrilled, though.

Our first night went well.  He is such a laid back puppy and always wants to be by your side.  He seems to be outgoing but submissive when he needs to be.  We love him!  Let me get the pictures posted.  Sawyer, Albert, & Chopper were all playing in the backyard.  Jackson was at school so he’s not in the first round of pictures.

Here is Chopper’s debut!!

Easter, Elmo, Etc.

Well, as usual, the boys are keeping me crazy busy!  While I’m trying to take pictures and enjoy everything….it doesn’t leave me much time to update my blog.

Easter was fun!  Unfortunately Jackson had a fever of 103 all weekend so we laid low.  He got up Easter morning in time to hunt some eggs, dig into his basket, and head back to bed!  My parents came over for the day and we watched Butler (ahem) lose.  Sad, but fun to be together.

Last weekend we went to see Sesame Street Live.  It was awesome!!  I cried the entire first half….blame it on hormones or just being a girl….but it was awesome.  Of course when I told my parents I cried the whole time, my mom said, “Oh, I KNOW!!”  And my dad said, “What?  Because you’re thirty something and you finally got to see Elmo???”  Typical dad fashion.  ;)

Anyway, I think the crowd at Elmo was basically a cesspool of cooties.  Needless to say we all have colds.  Again.  Ain’t it fun?

I’m posting some pics of Easter, playing outside, and playing inside!  Why do I have time to finally post, you ask?  Well, the boys are spending 2 days with Mimi and Poppy.  Yahoo for spring break!  Thanks a million to my folks.  It’s a spring break we all needed!  (Although, I’ve called home to check on them 8+ times in 24hours….sorry mom.)

I see London, I see France…

Well, it FINALLY happened….Jackson is wearing big boy underwear.  This is big stuff!  Anyway, I was getting Sawyer ready for bed last night and Brad was doing the bathroom routine with Jackson.  Jackson comes flying into Sawyer’s room wearing only his skimpies and yelling, “Mommy!  There’s a baby on my underwear!!”

I was like “heh?” because he had baseballs and footballs on his underwear.  “A baby?” I asked.

“Yep!” Jackson proclaimed.

“Where?”

“Right HERE!!!” he says (so very excited) as he pulls his underwear down to his ankles, grabs the size tag, and points to the Gerber baby on the tag.

“Um, yes!”  I say in my I’m so proud of you mommy voice…still a little shocked.  Jackson pulled his britches back up like nothing had happened.  (Innocence.)  Then Brad walks into Sawyer’s room.  “What’s going on here?” Brad asked.  Hmmm….do I tell him????

“Daddy!  There’s a BABY on my UNDERWEAR!!!”  Jackson exclaimed again.

“Really?  Where??” Brad asked…falling right into Jackson’s little trap.

“Right HERE daddy!”  And of course, same show as before.  Brad just looked at me like what do you teach these kids when I’m gone?  You know we both thought it was hilarious, but these are the things that, as parents, you must not laugh at….otherwise you will find yourself shopping at Target when your son decides to show some random stranger the baby on his underwear.

Sheesh.

Where’s Leo???

84-4n7n1einsteins_embedded_prod_affiliate_4.jpg

No, this isn’t a joke.  No this isn’t a game…not like “Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego.”  This is not a game at all.  In fact, Leo is MIA.  Who is Leo, you ask??  Well, he is a Little Einstein.  And Jackson LOVES Little Einsteins.  For Christmas he got a spaceship w/ all the Little Einsteins included.  He loves to feed them, put them to bed, and of course, perform Jimmy Buffet concerts for them.  He likes them so much that today at “school” when they were asked to thank God for something…..he thanked God for June, Leo, Quincy,….and whoever the other one is.

Well, tonite Brad is at the last home game for Butler.  The game started at 9pm so I only had a couple of hours alone w/ the boys…on top of the entire day, right?  No biggie.  Well, before Brad left I was vacuuming (as always….ha!) and the boys were putting away some toys…..and where all the Little Einstein peeps ended up is beyond me!

Flash forward to bedtime.  Jackson stayed up late w/ me to watch American Idol.  (Yes, he’s a fan.)  I thought he’d go straight to bed because it was LATE.   Well, he wanted to know where June was.  It seems he loves to sleep with June.  Whatever.  But, I couldn’t find her.  Of course, when I told him that, it didn’t go over well.  “OK.  I want QUINCY!!”  Fine, that should be easy enough.  Well, it turns out I found June and the other 3 Little Einsteins were MIA.  I was actually thrilled I found June…but Jackson was not.  So I had to come up with some story that the other Little Einsteins were at the Butler Bulldogs game with daddy…and you need to keep June company.

So far it’s working.  We’ll see…Ok….did I say I was going to have a glass of wine (not whine) and try to watch American Idol??  Wish me luck.

If Jackson catches me watching it without him…well….it’ll be worse than losing all the Little Einsteins!
