Minivans happen. October 27, 2008

That’s right.  Minivans happen.  Life happens.  Sh!t happens.

I always said I would never, ever, evah have a minivan…and then life happened.  I got married, had two kids, got two dogs, and got a minivan.  Unbelievable.  And maybe even more unbelievable is the fact the I love it!!!  Wednesday night we purchased (well…no car payments until December…which I still can’t figure out) a brand spankin’ new 2008 Honda Odyssey in Nimbus Grey.  It’s actually quite sweet if you ask me.

Buy hey, don’t take my word for it.  Come over and we’ll all go for a ride sometime in our party van!  We can all fit now!

(And you know if you don’t already own a minivan, you are secretly jealous.)

I love fall! October 20, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — sarahkron @ 1:28 am

I am so happy right now…because fall is my favorite season!  Warm apple cider, colorful leaves, brisk autumn air, amazing smells outside (think fires in the fireplace and crispy leaves…yum!), pumpkins….I could go on and on!  Oh, how I love fall!

We’ve been busy, as usual.  Jackson had his first field trip last week.  (And being the bad mommy, I didn’t take my camera.)  We went to an apple orchard/pumpkin patch.  Jackson, Sawyer, & I all picked our first apples off a tree!  We also took a little hayride and picked pumpkins off the vine.

This weekend, Brad’s parents came to visit and we went to the “Zoo Boo.”  The kids got to wear their costumes to the zoo and enjoy all the zoo fall festivities.  Jackson said to me tonight, “Mommy!  Can you believe I went trick or treating at the zoo!?!”

After his folks left town, we decided to get a head start on raking.  We scooped up about 8 bags of leaves…and the trees in back are still full!  Yikes.  Can’t wait until next weekend!  Anyway, this was the first year the boys really played in the leaves, so I had to take pictures.  They had fun…and made quite a mess.  Let’s just say, when they took baths tonight, I think a pound of leaves fell out of Sawyer’s diaper!  Ha!  All in the name of fun.  It reminded me of the days when my dad would rake leaves and I would play in them!  Oh….how I love fall!

Has it been that long?? September 22, 2008

Wow!  Has it really been that long since I’ve posted here??  Shame on me.  And as luck would have it…I don’t feel much like blogging right now!

One of these days, I’ll post on Jackson’s pirate birthday party (the big 4), Sawyer’s first haircut, Jackson’s first day of school…man, am I behind.  No.  I didn’t say I am a behind.  I’m just behind.  Such is life.

I’ll leave you with these….since they say a picture is worth a thousand words…

The Amaaaaazinggggg…..Chopper!!! August 6, 2008

Ok….as promised…death defying tricks by the amazing CHOPPER!!  Ok, so I couldn’t get the greatest video.  But he is the goofiest dog.  I thought he just loved jumping off the deck, but I have since realized that he is just a doofus.  He’s not great w/ stairs.  I fear (and he fears) that if he actually took each step he would clumsily tumble on his furry little face.

Ahem!  I mean…here is amazing footage of Chopper leaping off the deck!!  It totally reminds me of a crazy snowboarder.  First…picture this:

Now…watch this amazing footage!!  Man…I can’t wait until it snows!!

First Fishing Adventure July 29, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — sarahkron @ 6:51 pm

So, this was a big weekend for us!  Jackson went fishing for the first time…and got to learn from one of the greatest — Uncle John.  (aka – Great John.)  He even caught a fish!  (Which ended up doing the back float after we threw it back.  But don’t tell Jackson….he doesn’t know.)

He was so cute and was SO EXCITED.  Since we were staying with my parents and Brad was on his “mancation,” Jackson slept with me.  He was up until 11pm talking about the lake!  He said, “Maybe tomorrow I’ll catch another bluejay!”
“Don’t you mean bluegill?”  I asked.
“What?” Jackson said.”
“A bluejay is a bird.  A blugill is a fish.  That’s what you caught today.  A bluegill.”
“Oh,” Jackson said.  “Well, are there sharks in the lake?”
“No, Jackson.”
“Oh.  Those are only in the ocean? So I don’t have to watch out for sharks when I fish?”
“Goodnight, Jackson.”
“Goodnight, mommy!”

I updated!  But they’re on my baby blanket blog.  I don’t have time for both today…so go check them out!

I’m going home this week to help mom recover from her surgery…but when I get back, I’ll post some death-defying tricks performed by the one and only Chopper!!!!!  He graduates from puppy school tomorrow!  Yahooey!!  The class has been lots of fun for both of us.  His real, big boy obedience class starts in 3 weeks!  Which reminds me….I better go register him for that!

I thought I could get away with it. June 13, 2008

When our AC was out, Jackson had some “accidents” — if you know what I mean.  He’s been doing great with his potty training and hasn’t had any problems for months.  We all drank tons that week in order to stay hydrated…so that’s the excuse I’m using for him.  Anyway, I quickly learned that week that once he starts going he has to get to the potty immediately  or we’ll have a bigger problem.

So, two nights ago we went on a walk after dinner.  We came home and played outside for a little bit.  Then I asked Brad to chop down a tree/plant because I was tired of it growing insanely out of control.  I’m trying to tell Brad which plant to remove (and which plants NOT to remove) while keeping my eye on Sawyer and Jackson.  Well, Jackson came right up to me yelling that he had to go potty.  And I could tell he HAD to go.  I quickly surveyed the scene…Brad was cutting down the correct plant and Sawyer was watching him.  I couldn’t leave Sawyer with Brad and the saw.  I couldn’t pick up both boys and run in the house.  Jackson was never going to make it inside.  So….after making sure no one was looking, I took Jackson over behind a tree in our yard, pulled his shorts down, leaned him forward, and said, “GO!”  He looked at me like, “what????”  “Yes, go!  It’s ok.”  I figured he IS a boy, right?  Isn’t this what guys do?

So, he went.  I quickly pulled his britches back up and wiped a bit of sweat from my forehead.  I was a little stressed out by what I had just done…but I thought maybe he wouldn’t really “get it.”

Ha!  Jackson immediately ran over to Brad and was so excited!  He said, “Daddy!  Did you know there was a potty outside!?!”

Of course Brad looks at me and says, “No…I didn’t know there was a potty outside.”  Now I was getting that look again of “what do you do with my kids when I’m not around?”

“Well there is, Daddy!”  Jackson said proudly.  “It’s right over there!” he said as he pointed to the tree.

Sheesh.  So, later Jackson and I had a long conversation about why he went potty outside that one time…and why we won’t do it again.

It’s hot, it’s hot, it’s hot in here…. June 6, 2008

…there must be an owl in the atmosphere!!

Wow…that’s a flashback from my cheerleading days.  Good grief.

Just a quick post to vent bc our AC is outta commission.  It actually stopped working last Friday and it wasn’t a big deal until today.  It’s now officially 82 degrees outside and 85 degrees inside.  We feel like we live in the bayou!  (I actually made the mistake of making jambalaya yesterday…trying not to use the oven and we ran out of stuff to grill.  I don’t know how southern people have hot, hot weather and eat hot, hot food.  Doesn’t make sense to me.  Rachel??)

Anyway!  If things go according to plan, the AC will be fixed tomorrow.  So…on that note….off to rearrange the fans!

ps-my thought of the day is….let’s drill for oil in Alaska.  (ok, seems random…but seriously.)
